A Short Film!

There’s No Place Like Home.

mission statement

Blending timely social anxieties along with tight, terrifying scares-- HOME is a short film that takes on the poignant themes of financial instability and darkness of the American dream with the thrills and excitement of great haunted house horror.

THE STORY

A financially strapped young couple, desperately on the hunt for their “forever home,” arrive at an open house for a property that seems too good to be true-- a historic, beautiful building with lots of natural light and yes, even original hardwood floors.

But something isn’t quite right here. The picture frames are empty, there’s a strange noise bubbling from the pipes, and the other prospective buyers are just a bit… off. Is it just the bones of the house settling? Or is there something more sinister afoot?

As the couple’s own union begins to come apart under the stress of the major life change, the two make a shocking discovery about their “dream home.” They thought they were house hunting… but what if the house is hunting them?

Inspired by horror movies like Barbarian, Presence, Paranormal Activity, and Poltergeist… this tightly-wound and timely short film explores the nightmare of the home buying process and the bloody sacrifice and rotten foundation that lies beneath the American Dream.

YOUR SUPPORT

Independent filmmaking (much like buying a house in this economy!) is an expensive and difficult effort, and we need your help crowdfunding our project.

Our team is calling in all their bestest favors, but to make sure our crew and actors are properly paid and that this short film is as scary and beautiful as we want it to be… we’re looking to raise at least $10,000 for the production of this movie.

That money will go to cameras and equipment, crew payments, sound, locations, craft services, and post-production costs. This project is a labor of love and so everybody is working on discounted rates to make something we can all be proud of, but the more money we raise, the more fairly we can compensate everyone for their efforts. Our stretch goal is $15,000, and if we hit this goal, we’ll be able to hire more crew, get even better equipment, and provide for the team behind the project. Your donations help support independent artists and creatives who are working to create something we all can be proud of.
